Future: Fast Forward, the project that aims to “electrify Spain” and in which Técnicas Reunidas participates, presented to the PERTE VEC

The partners of Future: Fast Forward, an initiative led by the Volkswagen Group and Seat, in which 62 companies from 11 autonomous communities participate, including Técnicas Reunidas, have registered the project in the Strategic Project for the Recovery and Economic Transformation of the Electric and Connected Vehicle (PERTE VEC).

With a budget of 10.000 million euros, making it the largest industrial investment in Spain, the partners hope to “electrify Spain” and turn Spain into a vehicle hub in Europe.

If everything goes according to plan, the project will be launched in the first quarter of 2023.

The project has four main axes:

  • A first axis, led by Seat and Volkswagen, for the electrification of the Martorell (Barcelona) and Pamplona factories.
  • The second, for the creation of the battery ecosystem for electric cars, ranging from lithium extraction in the mines to battery assembly.
  • The third one, contemplates the localization in Spain of “essential” components for electric vehicles.
  • The fourth includes aspects related to training, digitalization and the circular economy.

Técnicas Reunidas, through its proprietary technologies development division at its technology center, participates in the fourth axis with a circular economy project for the development of technologies for the recovery of critical raw materials in the VEC.
