Turn off the lights for Earth

On the last Saturday of March, Técnicas Reunidas will join the ‘Earth Hour’ initiative. Aware of the importance of protecting the environment, the major leading Spanish engineering company participate in this movement by turning off the lights in all our offices located in Spain between 8:30 and 9:30 p.m. This small gesture helps to highlight the Company’s efforts to contribute to environmental protection.

This year’s Earth Hour, organized by the Worldwide Fund for Nature, is significant because it marks 20 years since the symbolic act of voluntarily switching off lights that gave rise to Earth Hour. This project, which currently involves cities, institutions, companies, and millions of people in more than 200 countries, highlights collective action and real achievements in environmental protection and caring for the planet.

Under the slogan ‘Turn off the lights, defend the planet‘, this year’s campaign focuses on the progress made to date and the need to transform commitments into concrete initiatives. On its anniversary, the Earth Hour highlights key milestones such as the signing of the Paris Agreement, the promotion of renewable energy, advances in the circular economy, and the priority given to protecting natural ecosystems and species

At Técnicas Reunidas, we are committed to environmental protection and work with our clients and partners in the decarbonization sector to accelerate the energy transition. Our services incorporate technological innovation, efficiency criteria, and sustainability from the facility design phase, enabling our clients to meet their sustainability and emissions reduction strategies.

The Company has recently updated its transition plan and has set itself the goal of reducing its carbon emissions by more than 46 % for its scopes 1, 2 and 3 by 2030 and becoming Net Zero by 2040. These ambitious targets have been validated by the rigorous Science Based Targets Initiative and recognized by the United Nations Global Compact in Spain with the Forward Faster seal.

The challenge is global, and caring for the planet is a shared responsibility. The sum of small actions, like turning off the lights for an hour, when multiplied, can help transform reality and achieve a positive impact. Along this path, Técnicas Reunidas continues to promote initiatives that contribute to more sustainable development, demonstrating that it is possible to move toward a better future.
