Sustainability training for TR Suppliers

Técnicas Reunidas continues to promote sustainability training for its suppliers in collaboration with the United Nations Global Compact.

The Company has participated for the second consecutive year in the UN Global Compact Spain, ICEX, and ICO Foundation’s Sustainable Suppliers Training Program. This initiative aims to train SMEs that supply large companies on the key principles of the UN Global Compact and the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Since its inception, the program has trained more than 5,000 supplier companies in integrating sustainable practices into their business models.

48 large companies participated in this lates edition, driving sustainability training within their supply chains. Técnicas Reunidas stood out among them, continuing to promote the training of its suppliers. These suppliers rated the program very positively, with a score above 4 out of 5. This reflects the high level of satisfaction among participating SMEs, 91% of which consider the training useful for their company, highlighting the initiative’s credibility and effectiveness.

Moreover, compared to previous editions, SMEs have improved their integration of sustainability, notably increasing the presence of diversity, equity, and inclusion policies (from 28% in the first edition to 52% in the third), as well as the number of companies with at least one person dedicated exclusively to sustainability (from 34% to 46%).

However, significant challenges remain. The lack of internal resources (29%) and the need for more sustainability training (19%) continue to be major barriers for many SMEs. Despite these challenges, trends indicate that SMEs are gradually adopting more structured sustainability strategies, with a stronger focus on long-term strategic planning—such as identifying priority SDGs and developing specific sustainability plans, which 23% and 22% of respondents, respectively, expect to implement within the next six months.
