Técnicas Reunidas supports sustainable energy alongside UNESCO

March 4th and 5th are marked for sustainability and engineering, as UNESCO has declared them “World Engineering Day for Sustainable Development” and “World Energy Efficiency Day,” respectively. For this reason, Técnicas Reunidas joins the celebration of these days to raise awareness about the essential role of engineering in mitigating the effects of climate change and advancing sustainable development.

This year’s theme for World Engineering Day for Sustainable Development is “Engineering Solutions for a Sustainable World,” something that Técnicas Reunidas applies daily by developing innovative solutions for our clients to offer sustainable energy anywhere in the world, including countries with limited energy access.

Meanwhile, World Energy Efficiency Day is an occasion to remind society of the importance of using energy wisely. At Técnicas Reunidas, we work towards achieving a more efficient and fair energy transition for all. Through initiatives like track, we support our clients in their efficiency and decarbonization processes and become their partner for the energy transition.

At Técnicas Reunidas, we are committed to reducing our scope 1 and 2 emissions by over 45% by 2030 and achieving Net Zero by 2040. These environmental objectives have been validated by the Science Based Targets Initiative (SBTi), a collaboration between the United Nations Global Compact, the World Resources Institute (WRI), and the Worldwide Fund for Nature (WWF). Additionally, all our offices in Spain use certified renewable energy.

One of the commitments of the European Commission and the United Nations is to raise awareness about the need to protect the environment and the economy by using energy rationally. In line with this, and from the perspective of the 2030 Agenda, Técnicas Reunidas makes significant contributions to Sustainable Development Goals 7 (“Affordable and Clean Energy”), 9 (“Industry, Innovation, and Infrastructure”), and 13 (“Climate Action”).
