Técnicas Reunidas strengthens its presence in North America with a new contract awarded by LNG Canada

  • LNG Canada, a joint venture between Shell, Petronas, PetroChina, Mitsubishi Corporation, and KOGAS, has awarded TR Canada E&C the Engineering, Procurement and Construction Management (EPCM) services for Phase 2 of Coastal GasLink (CGL), located in British Columbia, on Canada’s west coast.
  • CGL Phase 2 will be delivered through an integrated execution model. LNG Canada will lead project construction as Phase 2 Execution Manager, TR Canada E&C will provide the Engineering, Procurement and Construction Management (EPCM) services, while CGL will remain the owner, operator and permit holder of the pipeline and associated facilities.
  • The contract award also comes only weeks after LNG Canada reached its Phase 2 Final Investment Decision (FID), a key milestone that advances the next stage of development of this British Columbia-based Project of National Significance. Phase 2 further reinforces LNG Canada as one of the largest private-sector investments in Canadian history, building on the successful foundation established through Phase 1.

Madrid, 19 October 2026.- The award of this contract builds on the extensive work already performed by Técnicas Reunidas throughout the earlier phases of the project, where the company provided consulting and engineering services from the initial stages through the FEED phase.

The Project includes the construction of five additional compressor stations, as well as modifications to both existing and planned facilities at various points along the pipeline route.

The scope awarded to Técnicas Reunidas includes the detail engineering, procurement and construction management services, with an expected execution period of over four years and a contract value exceeding 200 million Euros, representing a significant milestone in the strengthening of Técnicas Reunidas’ services business.

This achievement demonstrates Técnicas Reunidas’ ability to support clients across the full lifecycle of major industrial developments, from concept definition to project execution.

Técnicas Reunidas has been present in Canada since 2012. It has a permanent office in Calgary with resident engineering teams and has carried out more than twenty technical studies and EPC (engineering, procurement, and construction) projects for major companies in the country.

The newly awarded contract with LNG Canada adds to the company’s extensive experience in midstream projects, which includes 30,000 km of oil and gas pipelines and more than 35 large compression projects worldwide.

The award comes shortly after another major success in Canada, where the company secured an EPC contract for a power generation facility that will provide energy to a major META data center and artificial intelligence hub, highlighting the company’s growing role in delivering critical infrastructure for both the energy and digital sectors.

Additionally, this contract reinforces Técnicas Reunidas’ commitment to the North American market, a cornerstone of its current SALTA Strategic Plan.

The company has already identified a pipeline of potential projects worth €28 billion in the North American market. A significant portion consists of around a dozen large-scale combined-cycle power plants, primarily aimed at meeting the high and growing energy needs resulting from the boom in large data centers being developed in the region.
